Warming Up The Fans

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

It has been a week since all the participants in the 1st International Blog Cup have been informed that their blog will be competing in the 1st ever Blog Cup competition. There are only a few of them that have acctually published this information on their blogs. But as we are speaking about 32 Top Blogs according to Technorati’s stats we have to admit that we really didn’t expect that the “Big Blogs” will be too interested into our Blog Cup. However there were a few of them who took our competition serious and are suddenly the top favourites to win it. In the last week we noticed that 7% of our traffic was coming from Norway (excluding .coms and .nets this is by far the largest number of visitors by country). And practically all of them were visitors from Peter Andre’s Blog. It looks like he did his homework perfectly and it makes his blog a top favourite to win the cup at the end of the month.

Don’t forget - it’s only 12 hours to the beginning of the 1st ever International Blog Cup!

In response to some questions from our visitors we would like to explain the format of International Blog Cup competition in details. At the moment you can only see the dates of opening and closing for the 1st round of voting at the voting page. A scheme (see below) showing the dates of all rounds is now available at the main Blog Cup page. Until further notice all Blog Cups will use this format (i.e. starting on 1st and finishing on 27th of the current month).

There are only 3 days left to the beginning of the 1st International Blog Cup competition!

Introducing Thematic Blog Cup Nominations

Monday, September 24th, 2007

During this weekend we set up two new nomination pages. This means we will run some more targeted Blog Cup competitions in the future.

At SEO/Marketing Blog Cup Nominations you can nominate your favourite blog intended for SEO/Marketing oriented public. Start of Voting for this Blog Cup is expected in November. It will be interesting to see the ability of attracting people to vote for them by SEO/Marketing specialists themselves.

In December, when demand for them is the greatest, we will be hosting an E-Cards Blog Cup competition. You can nominate your favourite blogs that are hosting e-card related topics here.

If you have an idea for a new Thematic Blog Cup, feel free to contact us directly. We would not like to host too many Blog Cups simultaneously as it could devalue Blog Cup Trophy, so please be patient if your proposed Thematic Blog Cup will be scheduled for next year.

Gawker with 4 out of 32 entries

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

After thorough “inspection” of blogs that are featuring in our 1st International Blog Cup (voting starts on 1st of October), I found out that there are 4 blogs that seemed very “connected”. It turns out that Gawker media group will have 4 blogs (Gizmodo, Kotaku, Gawker, Consumerist) competing in Blog Cup this October. It is also interesting that there is a pairing already in the first round that includes two Gawker’s blogs - Gawker.com vs. Consumerist.com. So they have practically guaranted a spot among top 16 blogs already.

On the other side it looks like Peter Andre Jensen’s Blog will have an easy job in the first round as the Persian Blog seems to be down at the moment. If anyone knows what happened to Persian Blog, please let us know.

Just to remind you - there is only 9 days left to the start of 1st International Blog Cup.
